Today I got my poetry book for my English class back. For once, I actually put some thought into a school project rather than going to the local general store and buying some pretty poster paper and gluing some happy photos to it. I had to analyze 100 poems and I can honestly say that I put so…
This teacher’s reaction makes absolutely no sense. Particularly considering that most of the classic 19th century poetry taught in school is about prostitutes. The teacher’s reaction is infinitely more offensive than anything in the book could possibly have been. The teacher should be ashamed of herself. Poetry is not cute and conservative. It’s dirty and talks about things people don’t want to hear. Honestly, look at Shakespeare. This just does not make any sense. Particularly punishing someone for trying. How many air heads would just fake this? Too many. Someone actually put in thought and effort, and they were punished? I don’t even have words for how horrible this is. It concerns me that this woman is teaching. None of the great classic works are absolutely pure, really, are they? Even Pride and Prejudice had some implied scandal. This is ridiculous.
Yeah, I think that's always been my biggest hesitation of moving and all. But I mean, I can stay there for 6 months, and if I don't like it, I can just find somewhere I will :) But thanks for saying something. Most people never say the flip side of NY.
No problem. I think NYC is probably more fun for more social people. I wouldn’t discourage you though, there’s a lot of fun to be had here. (like I’ve realized it’s not the city for me to settle in, but it could be yours; I just want to warn about the… grunginess, for lack of a better word).
